CLR Carmine Salvino Scorpion Championship

Jason Poli decided it was time for “out with the old and in with the new.” Going into this week he got rid of all his previous equipment and started anew and that proved a to be smart game plan as he led Wednesday’s Tournament Qualifying Round of the CLR Carmen Salvino Scorpion Championship at Brunswick Zone Hawthorn.

Poli finished with 1,761 pins over the seven game block, averaging 251.57 and
bested the field by at least 84 pins.

The field of 64 players will bowl two, 7-game qualifying rounds for a total of 14 games today, Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27 in which the top 32 players advance to match play.

Bowlers making the cut return on Friday morning, Nov. 28 for the first nine games of an 18 game round robin match play schedule. The field will then be cut to the top 16 players who will return on Friday evening for the second round of match play competition. At the conclusion of match play, the top four finalists will advance to stepladder competition, i.e. No. 5 vs. No. 4, winner vs. No. 3, winner vs. No. 2, en route to championship match, aired live on ESPN on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Noon CT/1 p.m. ET.
