Liz Johnson Kegal Bowler of the Month

Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, New York, has been unanimously named the September 2010 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the Bowling Writers Association of America (BWAA).

Her victories in the month were threefold. First, Johnson became the first woman to win the century-old AMF Petersen Classic with a 1651 eight-game score. The other wins were the team and all-events gold medals at the Pan American Confederation (PABCON) Women's Championships in Las Vegas. Her 1,261 six-game total helped pace Team USA to its 13th team gold medal in 15 championships. Johnson added 1344 in singles, 1334 in doubles, and 1302 in trios for a 5241 all-events total, averaging 218.38 for the tournament.

Johnson was a medalist for the third straight year in the PABCON Women's Championships. She claimed team and trios silver medals in 2009 in addition to gold medals in team and singles gold medals, doubles, trios, and Masters silver medals, and a team bronze medal in 2008.

Others capturing votes were Kelly Kulick, doubles and team gold medalist, all-events silver, trios bronze, Shannon Pluhowsky, doubles and team gold medalist, and Stefanie Nation, singles and team gold medalist all at the PABCON Women's Championships.
