PBA Super Clash Sunday

The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour’s fiercest rivalry will be on display Super Bowl Sunday on ESPN at 4 p.m. ET when 2012-13 PBA Player of the Year Jason Belmonte battles 2011-12 Player of the Year Sean Rash in the first PBA Super Clash.

Arguably the best players on the PBA Tour over the past two years, Belmonte and Rash will meet head-to-head in a three-game total pinfall match at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, MI. The winner of each game will earn a $2,000 prize with the player accumulating the highest overall pinfall winning a $10,000 grand prize.

In addition to coming off a 2012-13 season in which he won the United States
Bowling Congress Masters
, Belmonte won Sunday’s Barbasol  PBA Tournament of Champions for his second major title. He’s had an outstanding record in majors over the past year finishing second in the 2013 U.S. Open and Tournament of Champions, third in the World Series of Bowling IV PBA World Championship and reaching the TV finals in seven of the past eight major championships. He led the PBA in competition points and broke the PBA Tour average record during the 2012-13 season, scoring at a 228.81 pace for 422 games.

Rash, who won the 2012 Barbasol PBA Tournament of Champions, won two
international Tour titles in 2013 and also finished second twice, third four
times, and fifth once during the past season.

Fans will once again experience Belmo-Vision which provides a point-of-view look at competition as Belmonte sees it through his Google Glass headset.

The Super Clash will be contested on a pair of lanes with two different lane
conditions using the revolutionary blue oil that gives fans a visual reference
to lane dressing application. Belmonte has chosen PBA’s 39-foot Tournament of Champions lane condition for the left lane and Rash the 35-foot Cheetah
condition for the right lane.

Immediately following the Super Clash will be the CP3 PBA Remix at 5:30 p.m. that will feature highlights from the Chris Paul PBA League All-Star and
Celebrity Invitational
events from the past five years.
