Dom Barrett signs with Track Bowling

Track Bowling is proud to announce the signing of Dom Barrett to its national pro staff. Barrett, nicknamed "The Dominator", is a four-time PBA title winner, claiming the 2011-12 Scorpion Open, 2012-13 Qatar Open, and 2014 Qatar Open titles, as well as a major title with the 2012-13 World Series of Bowling V PBA World Championship. Barrett feels not only is the timing right to sign with Track, but it also represents a return to his roots. "I'm extremely excited to be part of the Track and EBI (Ebonite Bowling International) family," Barrett said. "I was briefly on Ebonite staff in 2008 and it feels really good to be back where I started my international career." "I've always been a huge fan of Track and I had a lot of success as a youth with the Freak series, Threat (an original Heat variation) and Stomp series," he said. TRACK Introduces Three in February

TRACK introduces a trio of bowling balls, World Wide Release Date, February 3rd, 2015. 


The first of the new bunch is Hx16 a high performance addition. The Orange/Gold Pearl /Blue hybrid will be called DR-8 Hybrid. Surrounding the  i-Core, the cover will be prepped with 500/1000 Abralon with Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish.  RG:  #15/2.49, RG DIFF: #15/.053 

Next on the block in the mid- performance category, The Orange/Purple /Aqua QR-6 Solid cover wraps the Face core with a cover finished to 500/3000 Abralon on the newly offered TRACK Lx10.

Lastly, Mx05.  A Red Pearl/Silver Pearl cover of MR 4 Pearl wraps the Modified Kinetic core with 500/1000 Abralon with Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish. 

Track To Unleash Three New Balls and a New Naming System

The Track LX 16 features QR-8 (Quick Response) Pearl Coverstock, the finish is 800/1000/2000/3000 Abralon®, with design to fit medium to heavy oil lane conditions, shell color is Red/Plum/Smoke.

Bowlers with lower rev rates need more help from the bowling ball than anyone, the reason TRACK developed the brand new Lx16. In order to achieve  targeted ball motion, they armed the Lx16 with Track’s latest and greatest in both core and coverstock development.
 

For the MX10, Track wanted to create a ball that offered moderate length with a strong back end reaction for those with medium rev rates. In order to achieve the targeted ball motion, they combined a brand new cover with a young but successful core design.

Utilizing the Face core, which was previously used, in their high performance line (910A), this core allows the MX10 to read the mid-lane aggressive enough to get the job done while maintaining sufficient energy for the breakpoint.

Bowlers with medium rev rates usually get lost in the mix when it comes to coverstock development. Most covers are either too aggressive or not aggressive enough for their game, which forces them to play the wrong part of the lane. For medium rev rate fans, Track developed the new MR (Mid Response) covers. The MX10 features the MR-6 Hybrid cover which offers just the right amount of mid-lane read.

The MX10 is finished with 500/1000 Abralon® and polished with Powerhouse Factory Finish. The extra bit of surface underneath the polished finish allows the strengths of the MR-6 Hybrid to shine on almost any lane conditions, especially on medium oil patterns.

Although the MX10 was engineered with the medium rev rate style in mind, Track suggests "that all styles of play will gravitate towards this beauty. The MX10 has both the looks and performance. It’s the complete package!"

Today’s bowler wants to see that ball hook as much as possible. To be honest, most bowler’s really don’t need that much hook. Especially those with higher rev rates. For the HX05, Track wanted to create a ball that performed outstandingly when in the hands of such bowlers.

The new Track HX05 is covered with Purple Pearl/Gold Pearl DR (Delayed Reponse)-4 Pearl coverstock, finish is 500/1000 grit Abralon® Polished w/Powerhouse Factor Finish Polish, designed for medium lane condition to light oil.

The HX05 features one of the most successful cores in the history of Track. The Modified Kinetic core is one of those special cores that rolls good no matter how it’s drilled or who is throwing it. The low rg and differential offers unheard of control and predictability on the lanes. Controlling the friction on the lane is important to every bowler. Especially those with higher rev rates. This is why Track developed the new DR-4 Pearl reactive cover. The DR covers offer a very clean reaction through the front part of the lane. Level 4 of this cover will match up best on medium to light oil patterns.

The HX05 is finished with 500/1000 Abralon® and polished with Powerhouse Factory Finish. This finish allows the HX05 to perform on fresh and broken down patterns equally well. Those needing even more skid through the front part of the lane can achieve it by raising the underlying surface and then repolishing.

Everyone knows that guy that always seems to be hooking the entire lane when he’s bowling. Is it because he wants to or because today’s bowling ball technology forces him to? Most likely it’s the latter. This is why Track developed the HX05. Higher rev players need a ball designed for their game. One that allows them to throw the ball the way they want to.

Track Unveils The 714C

When TRACK designed the 714C, they were looking for something that would complement two previous releases, the 706A and 716T. The R&D team quickly determined that by modifying a successful core from the past and wrapping it with a brand new cover, they would be able to accomplish the task at hand.

Core: The 714C features a core shape that we successfully used in the past in both the 718A and 716T. The original Robot core gave them the big backending 718A while the Modified Robot core gave them the strong rolling 716T. For the new 714Crelease, the densities were modified once again to create a strong continuous motion at the backend of the lane. This new version is the Modified Robot 2.0.

Cover: The 714C marks the first time TRACKhas solely used one of their new “Continuation” covers. For this new release, they use the Gen XC (Xtra Continuation). Some of the unique additives found in this new cover were recently combined with additives from our Gen XT cover. The combination of the two, created one of the best hybrid covers ever developed which can be found on our recently introduced 811C/T.

Finish: The final step that completes the ball development process is the finish. Having the right finish allows for the perfect combination of core and cover to shine for a wide variety of bowling styles. For the 714C, TRACK went with 800/1000/2000/3000 Abralon® as our finish of choice. This finish process allows for easy length on medium to oily patterns while creating the perfect amount of continuation at the back end of the lane. Look for the 714C January 8th, 2013.

Track Bowling Explains Ball Numbers

Track Reveals the New 912T, 706A, 503T and 300A

“Our goal was to create a ball that simply out hooked and (out) performed every ball ever made in the history of Track.” The new Track introduction in the 900 series is 912T.  With the Legion 2 Turbo core creating easy revs while storing plenty of energy for the back end  the 912T features the brand new Gen ET (Extreme Traction) cover. Track included: “The “Traction” this cover creates is out of this world. We accomplished this by taking our Gen XT (Xtra Traction) cover used on the popular 716T and slowly increased the “Traction” additives until we created the best cover to match up with heavy oil patterns.”

Track further explained “In order to create the strong overall hook that was desired when creating the 912T, we decided to go with our newest finishing process. This process uses 1500 Abranet Soft as the last finishing step. Abranet Soft is a new type of sanding material that was developed to minimize clogging while sanding. The foam layer and open structure of Abranet Soft provides more flexibility and allows the material to follow surface contours more effectively.” Available June 21, 2012.

Later this summer, Track will reveal the New 706A. Track explained “The concept for creating the 706A was simple. We wanted a core/cover combination that would provide the aggressive move at the breakpoint the “A” series is known for, with improved continuation through the pins. Our R&D team accomplished this by creating both a brand new core and cover. 706A is the first Track ball to feature the brand new Helmet core. For the 706A, our R&D team developed our new Gen XA (Xtra Angle) cover. The finish process is the final factor that determines our overall ball motion. For the 706A, we started with 800 Abranet then followed it up with 1000 and 2000 Abralon. Once the sanding is done, we apply our Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish." Available July 24, 2012.

In August, Track introduces the 503T. The Packman core offers moderate revs due to the medium Rg values combined with a large overall flare potential. The new GenMT (Moderate Traction) cover is a modified version of the Gen XT (Xtra Traction) cover found on the 716T. By reducing the amount of Traction additives, Trackcreated a cover that will match up the best with medium to oily lane conditions. The finish process is the final factor that determines the overall ball motion. For the 503T, they started with 800 Abranet then followed it up with 1000 and 2000 Abralon. This finish will provide enough traction for oily lanes while allowing the 503T, to still be useful on medium oil patterns as well. Available August 28, 2012

 The 300A is designed for when there is too much friction for today's high-performance balls. A combination of the Track Symmetric Core and Gen MA (Moderate Angle) cover provided the building blocks for a ball to complement the 300T and 300C. The 300A comes with standard polished factory finish. The surface is finished with 800 Abranet and then working up with 1000, 2000 and then 4000 Abralon before Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish. Those looking for a little less length can achieve it by sanding with a 2000 Abralon pad and then re-polishing. Available June 21,2012.



PBA Detroit Open Win #35 For Norm Duke



Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer Norm Duke won the PBA Detroit Open presented by Track Sunday for his first win of the 2011-12 season and the 35th of his career.

Duke, of Clermont, FL, defeated reigning PBA Player of the Year and No. 1 seed Finland native Mika Koivuniemi, 266-217, in the championship match at Thunderbowl Lanes to win the $10,000 first prize which pushed his career earnings over the $3 million mark. 

Koivuniemi, who now makes his home in Hartland, MI, was trying for his 10th career Tour title. Duke joins fellow Hall of Famers Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Pete Weber as the only players to earn more than $3 million and his 35 wins also moved him into fourth on the all-time career list for titles won.

Williams is PBA’s all-time career titles leader with 47 followed by Earl Anthony with 43 and Weber with 36. Williams holds the all-time career earnings mark with $4.35 million followed by Weber with $3.52 million.

“At this point in my career I feel just blessed to be able to compete,” said the 47-year-old Duke. “It’s just so hard to win out here that at this point in my career I’m just blessed — that’s all I can say. I’m jealous of what the young guys can do so it makes it all the more special.”

Duke, the No. 2 seed, soundly defeated 2009 PBA World Championship winner Tom Smallwood of Saginaw, MI, in the semi-final match 288-178 to advance to the championship match.

Duke attributed his success to reducing the amount of practice he took before each match. “Usually, everyone wants as much practice as they can get but for me that’s not always the case,” Duke said. “Sometimes you need the practice but other times you have to know when to get out of there.

“The guys with the big rev rates will just burn up the lane and I didn’t want to add to that. Fortunately, I was able to play outside on the lane where I like to play. I had to make a one-board adjustment in the first game but even in the championship match I had to make a three and a half board adjustment.”

In the opening stepladder match, Smallwood, who was trying for his second career title, defeated three-time Tour titlist Bill O’Neill of Southampton, PA, 245-214, to advance to the semifinal against Duke.

The Detroit Open was the third PBA Tour event streamed live exclusively on pba.com’s Xtra Frame online bowling channel. 

The next stop for the PBA Tour will be the Dick Weber Playoffs from Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, IN March 30-April 1 which will also be streamed live on Xtra Frame.
