England's Williams Named Kegel Bowler of the Month

Stuart Williams, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England, has been named the December 2010 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the Bowling Writers Association of America (BWAA).

Williams defeated Mai Ginge Jensen, Denmark, 422-417, in a two-game match to win the European Bowling Tour (EBT) "Platinum" Qatar Bowling Open and the 30.000 Euro top prize (approx. US$43,865). He survived a tough semifinal match against Sayed Al-Hashiemi, United Arab Emirates, prevailing 449-442.


A regular on the EBT, he has six victories since 2003, finishing fourth in 2010 EBT rankings. In 2007, he captured the World Tenpin Bowling Association's World Ranking Masters championship, among international titles won in nine countries.

Williams is in his second season as a PBA exempt player. His highest finish is sixth in the 2009 PBA Cheetah Championship.


Others receiving votes were Bryon Smith, winner of the PBA Regional Players Invitational, Marcus Berndt, Wichita State University, men's individual winner of the collegiate Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational and Javier Diaz, Webber International University, men's individual winner of the Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout.
