Storm's New Product: The New Power Glove - Throttle

The Power Glove Throttle is engineered for no-thumb and two-handed bowlers who want maximum control without restricting wrist motion. Many two-handed and no-thumb bowlers struggle with grip—especially when throwing urethane or balls with fresh surface—where oil remains on the cover and creates a slick feel.

ACPGTH 1 (1)
ACPGTH@Palm

Featuring interchangeable palm pads—including a high-tack flat pad and thicker foam options—the Throttle allows bowlers to fine-tune feel and traction to match any condition or style. The tacky palm delivers a confident grip without feeling overly sticky, preserving a clean and consistent release.

Storm Bowling Introduces the Rockstar™ Amped

From Storm: "This isn't just a ball; it's a mosh pit of power, precision, and pure rock and roll rebellion, engineered to make every shot a chart-topping performance.

This new release features the NEW – NanoStar™ Pearl Reactive cover that contains a medium load of nanoparticles blended throughout. Meaning, while it clears the fronts with ease, it provides a little more traction in the midlane than our nano-free pearl covers, but it is not as grippy in oil as our fully loaded nano pearl covers. Clean and responsive, but not sideways off of friction down lane."

ROCKSTAR AMPED

INFORMATION DATE: 10/3

STREET DATE: 10/24

Key Features:

  • The RockStar Amped is a pearl symmetric option that designed for medium to medium/heavy oil conditions.
  • The ball is finished with Power Edge™.
  • Core: Rocker™ + A.I. Core
  • Coverstock: NanoStar™ - The revolutionary new NanoStar Pearl coverstock steals the show again thanks to the medium load of nanoparticles blended throughout.
  • The Rocker Core provides the raw, untamed power, generating a high revving, aggressive motion that pushes through the pins.

Plays Well When:

  • When stronger asymmetrical balls are just too strong in the midlane causing them to not go through the pins the right way, and you need something that still picks up in the midlane but continues and has some response to friction.
  • When weaker balls are not strong enough and you need a ball that picks up and continues without being overly aggressive.
  • Can be used to blend fresh overacting house our tournament conditions, as well as blend out over-under conditions just like its solid predecessor the original ROCKSTAR™.

Storm Bowling Innovation Division

Storm Nation made waves at Bowl Expo with a massive announcement that sets the stage for the future of innovation in bowling. In a special video from the Storm Products booth, Tyler Jensen, President of Storm Products, and Hank Boomershine, longtime industry leader and technical mastermind, revealed that Storm is launching a new Innovation Division backed by a bold $5 million investment. The goal? To redefine what’s possible—not just in bowling balls, but in the very technology and tools used by bowlers and coaches alike.

Jensen emphasized that this initiative reflects the company’s three core values for the year: Respect, Teamwork, and Innovation—with innovation taking center stage at this year’s booth. “It was innovation in motion,” he said. The new Innovation Division will be led by Boomershine, who will take on the title of Chief Technology Officer. Under his leadership, the team aims to break barriers and go beyond what the sport has ever seen before.

Boomershine reflected on his 25-year journey with Storm, noting how far R&D has come—from developing coverstocks and core shapes to embracing AI technologies. But now, with greater resources and vision, he says the team will be able to “step outside the box” like never before. Future developments won’t be limited to traditional bowling ball performance—they could touch all corners of Storm’s world, from technology to coaching tools.

Looking ahead, Storm also hinted at exciting upgrades coming to its Brigham City campus, including new dedicated spaces for product development and testing. Plans are in motion to create a high-tech Innovation Lab and a next-generation training and testing center. These environments will give Boomershine and his team expanded opportunities to explore new concepts and push the limits of design and performance.

The product testing process at Storm remains rigorous and thoughtful. As Boomershine explained, a single bowling ball can go through dozens—sometimes hundreds—of test cycles across various styles, surfaces, and tweaks to shape and materials. The effort is always strategic and intentional, ensuring every ball fills a unique slot in Storm’s performance matrix.

Beyond equipment, Storm also teased a revolutionary new technology aimed at coaching and elite player development—a project spearheaded by Boomershine that’s expected to launch sometime in the coming years. Though details are under wraps, Jensen called it “groundbreaking” and something that will change the way bowlers learn and train.

With Boomershine also continuing to lead engineering and quality assurance, Storm is doubling down on the consistency and excellence that have defined its products for decades. The creation of the Innovation Division is more than a new division—it’s a leap forward for the entire sport.

“We’re not just thinking about what’s next,” said Jensen. “We’re creating what’s never been done before.” Click or copy: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1440032123810975

TEAL

Weightblock: Inverted Fe² Technology

Coverstock: A1S™ Pearl Reactive

Finish: Power Edge™

Scent: Pineapple Apple Crisp

The Hy-Road 40 represents a throwback to the Hy-Road Pearl with a twist. At the heart of things is the venerable 2-piece Inverted Fe² technology. The very same found in all Hy-Road Series releases and the most successful weight block in the history of Storm. The A1S Pearl cover features one of the fastest oil absorption times across our family of brands. This helps the Hy-Road 40 combat the thicker oils of today while still providing that famous Storm backend shape.

The Newest from Storm Bowling, The Equinox

EQUINOX

PREMIER

INFORMATION RELEASE: 1/20 - 9:00 AM MST

STREET DATE: 2/7/2025

TECHNICAL TEAM NOTES

  • NEW COVERSTOCK! The A1S Pearl Reactive coverstock introduces Storm’s first-generation Adhesion System, engineered for exceptional performance with a rapid oil absorption rate that boosts tackiness even when polished.
  • NEW WEIGHTBLOCK! The Solarion A.I. Core introduces a fresh take on asymmetric core design, utilizing an innovative top-to-bottom weight distribution.
  • The core is constructed from three distinct cylindrical shapes, each influencing the ball’s motion. Positioned along the Z-axis, the largest cylinder lowers the RG, enhancing the ball's ability to rev quickly. Its distinct positioning causes a tumbling effect through the front of the lane and more kick off the spot. The 2nd largest cylinder on top allows for drilling manipulation, providing versatility through finger-depth adjustments. The smallest cylinder on the bottom is paired with a lighter slug adding extra torque, extending the core's height and increasing downlane rotational energy.
  • Fragrance: Blueberry Crumble

The New Revenant Bowling Ball from Storm Bowling

                                                                                REVENANT

It’s risen. R3S Pearl is together anew with the Vector Core, but with a fresh veneer and more reaction where it matters most: at the pins. Reacta Gloss is cutting-edge when it comes to surfaces. Using an all-new polishing agent, Reacta Gloss maintains its profile longer and more consistently than any previous Storm polished finish before it. Go ahead. Grip it. You’ll immediately feel a difference to the touch.

The Storm Bolt doesn’t just identify a Storm bowling ball. It represents over three decades of tradition, a commitment to quality, and a promise to always roll better than ever before. The covers are robust. The cores are exact. Because when the scores add up, the thrill of sending all ten back tells you that it’s worth it.

Like the new Premier ball, the Absolute, the Thunder Line adds the new Revenant on January 20th, 2023.

Storm Introduces The Premier Line Absolute Bowling Ball

      ABSOLUTE

AN ABSOLUTE UPGRADE

In most cases, an extra slug, or weighted disk, is needed to create enhanced dynamics, but the evenly weighted masses at both ends of the Sentinel Core upgrades this effect more than a single slug ever could. This ensures the Absolute will change direction and continue through the pins better and more consistently. This is the first single-density asymmetric core in the Storm line since the Lucid.

The R&D team has also reduced the amount of weight block mass near the area where the thumb hole is typically placed. The inward angled edges increase the intermediate differential prior to drilling and allows the dynamic integrity to be preserved after drilling because the thumb hole misses the weight block. The extra intermediate differential makes the Absolute respond to friction on the lane more effectively and won’t miss the spot.

Performance happens when bowler and ball work together as one. When the ball becomes an extension of the bowler’s will. That’s performance we measure not on a scoreboard, but in our hearts..The Storm Absolute is 2023's first new PREMIER LINE ball. Expect the Absolute to be available January 20th, 2023.

USBC AND STORM PRODUCTS ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT OF NATIONAL TOURNAMENT EXCLUSION AND BALL EXCHANGE PROGRAM

ARLINGTON, Texas - The United States Bowling Congress and Storm Products have agreed on a national tournament exclusion rule and ball exchange program for six Storm Products manufactured ball models. The agreement comes after USBC identified the models having a percentage of balls produced below USBC minimum 73D hardness specification.

USBC's investigation showed a percentage of these ball models measured below the USBC-required hardness level of the approval samples submitted by Storm. Storm collaborated with USBC after being notified of this testing.

The affected models include:

  • Storm Phaze 4
  • Storm Electrify Solid
  • Storm Trend 2
  • 900 Global Altered Reality
  • 900 Global Wolverine
  • Roto Grip UFO Alert

Effective March 30, 2022, these balls models are prohibited from use in USBC national tournaments, including, but not limited to, the USBC Masters, U.S. Open, USBC Open Championships, USBC Women's Championships, all PWBA Tour events, USBC Junior Gold and Youth Open Championships, USBC Intercollegiate Championships, USBC Team USA Trials, USBC Senior Masters and USBC Senior Queens.

These ball models remain USBC approved. Each USBC competition, whether tournament or league, has the option to adopt USBC's national tournament rule prohibiting use of these balls or to continue to allow their use.

USBC has shared this national tournament rule with Storm and has Storm's support. Storm will offer owners of the affected balls the option to exchange their balls for a new product. Information about the exchange program will be published later this week on stormbowling.com.

"USBC thanks Storm for the collaboration and for working together on a solution for our members," USBC Executive Director Chad Murphy said. "There is no perfect solution to this type of problem, but this agreement strikes a balance in protecting the integrity of USBC national tournaments, while giving members a choice to do what is best for them locally."

As part of the agreement, Storm Products will discontinue sales of the affected balls. USBC has concluded its investigation and will not be taking action on additional balls related to this production issue.

"Storm appreciates USBC working with us on this agreement, so we can put the issue behind us and focus on our customers," Storm Products President Dave Symes said. "Customer satisfaction has always been our top priority, and we will take care of our customers."

This agreement does not change the status of the Storm Spectre. The Spectre remains unapproved and on USBC's non-conforming ball list.

Storm Introduces the Incite and Hy-Road Max

HY-ROAD MAX

The Inverted Fe2 weight block has historically had a higher RG orientation. The higher the RG, the more resistant the ball will be to changing direction as it travels down the lane. NeX first made its debut on the Axiom™, the newest touchstone from which all other balls are compared. The finishing touches clock in at 3000-grit Abralon, which has become the benchmark standard of surface profiles. As you can see, there’s more to every ball than meets the eye..

Available: February 19, 2021
Color: Emerald/Lime
Fragrance: Green Apple

INCITE

In physics, tensors are important because they provide a concise mathematical framework for formulating and solving physics problems in areas such as mechanical design. The product resembles a stronger, more powerful symmetric core model that blends the line between top-drawer asymmetric and the more traditional symmetric approach thanks to a modest touch of asymmetry between the Y and Z axes.

Color: Goldenrod/Graphite/Crimson
Fragrance: Cherry Vanilla

New From Storm Axiom

Storm balls are meticulously engineered by hand. There is very little automation in their processes and that’s for good reason. Not only are they manufactured this way, they’re tested using real bowlers. You can tell you from testing the Axiom, there is some ground-breaking new technology in both cover and core.

NRG™ has become a staple in Storm’s lineup of coverstocks for nearly a decade. It’s due time for an upgrade! NeX (Nano Extreme) is Storm’s earliest reading cover to date. NeX Solid was remarkably earlier hooking than NRG on any pattern, or any surface that it was tested it on. Alex Hoskins, Research and Development Manager for Storm, went on record saying: “Our standardized durability and longevity tests showed NeX created 11% more entry angle and 9.6% more overall hook after 50 shots compared to a fresh NRG cover.” Simply put, NeX gives more midlane read than ever WITHOUT sacrificing any backend.

The Orbital Core has a distinctly low Radius of Gyration (RG) axis which further complements the mid-lane read for which NeX was developed. The central ball inside the outer core maintains and extremely low un-drilled Radius of Gyration. Got heavy oil? Not anymore. Especially when stacked up against the Orbital Core and the Axiom.

30th Anniversary Ball from Storm Coming in November

Storm plans to introduce the IQ Tour 30, a pearl IQ, obviously other than color, like the original Gold Tour IQ, which left the market too soon. Look for the 30th Anniversary ball in November 2015.

So what is it that makes these IQ Tour balls so special? They are very unique in the fact that they have a one of a kind core that cannot be found elsewhere.

The C³™ Centripetal Control Core which is engineered to yield ample mid-lane roll with its low radius of gyration, or center of gravity. Think of a figure skater with their arms pulled in. They spin quickly and so does this weight block shape! In addition, the differential, or imbalance, of this core is not extensive.

Many balls in this category have a higher differential to produce more hook or ball motion. The C³ shape is designed for higher rev players and those looking for a smoother change of direction.

And while the most famed R2S™ Pearl Reactive shell encases this core, you're sure to find that awesome dry lane traction you have come to love with Storm.

Celebrating Storm's 30th Anniversary in the bowling business, the new IQ Tour 30 is sure to be a hit for anyone who ever threw the Gold Ball, the IQ Tour Pearl.  Release date:

New Balls Disclosed From Storm

When you get a whiff of Paradise Punch, look for the new Storm Ride, which arrives in the Hots line April 21st. The new Storm Ride is designed for drier lanes, and Storm incorporates both new and proven technology in this gem.

For the cover, Storm chose the smooth and highly polished Hybrid Reactor™ material which refuses to acknowledge friction in the heads (the first 15 feet of the lane). And the new Cruiser™ core produces a modest amount of flare potential to help control your ball path as well. The Ride is consistent, reliable, and predictable, just what you need when you want a powerful hitting ball but one that doesn’t ‘bounce off the dry!’

The new Storm Tropical Breeze mimics previous entrees in this series. Look for the Camber core wrapped in Carbon/Chrome colored Reactor coverstock with a standard 1500 grit polished finish, with a Cinnamon fragrance, to arrive April 21st.

The new Storm Mix series adds Purple/Yellow, Pink/White and Black/White color options. The Mix series is pearl U1S urethane, 3500-grit Abralon polished, three piece balls available June 9th.

The Storm Crux

Asymmetry is 'The Crux'
For eight years running now, more professionals have included Storm in their arsenal than any other brand. They want the same thing as amateur bowlers—superior performance. With strong, consistent motion and energy through the pins, Storm bowling balls are incomparable.

The Catalyst™ Core is not only the latest groundbreaking technology, it is the sparkplug of this ball. It soon will be the stimulation of exceptional bowling. Its’ dynamic asymmetrical design will help you create more angle through the pocket. It’s been proven that increasing your entry-angle gives you a much wider margin for error that can lead to more strikes. Think Jason Belmonte or Pete Weber’s pin-action, you don't have to throw it like these pros but that is what you can expect from the Crux.

And the ERG™ hybrid reactive cover stock is prepped to a 3000-grit, so bowlers like yourself can be rest assured that the Crux has decisive performance.
