Track and DV8 Introduce 2 New Balls Next Month

Track Bowling is excited to announce the Sensor, which adds a new symmetric core design to an already versatile and high-performing line-up. The Regulator core features a new design, yielding a low RG and differential combination. The new Regulator core, paired with DR-6 Pearl, will create easy length and a strong backend reaction. The Sensor was strategically designed to handle medium to drier conditions and to fit just below the Kinetic Black Ice in the line.

The Collision was many players’ go-to ball when they needed an asymmetric ball that moved on the backend. The Brutal Collision is a fantastic follow-up and uses an even stronger reacting base cover, HK22. Adding HK22 to the Collision core and a polished, solid cover creates even more hook and a devastating backend reaction. As promised, HK22 will create more color clarity, and the Brutal Collision is bold and vibrant. This ball will stand out for its look and also its performance on the lanes.

DV8 Adds Four New Balls

DV8 introduces four new balls, July 12th for Grudge Hybrid and Freakshow and August 9th for Vandal Smash and Deviant Pearl.

The hybrid Grudge is Black/Red/Yellow Composite Hook Hybrid coverstock, surrounding the Grudge Low RG Asymmetric core. The Grudge hybrid is finished 500/4000 with Siaair Micro Pads, to provide the friction and hook for long or heavier lane conditions, or if your ball speed is faster.

The Freakshow Blue/Platinum Class 6V Pearl Reactive cover is finished to 500 Siaair then Royal Compound and Royal Shine.  The Freakshow Symmetric (low RG 2.481 in #15) core is light bulb shaped. The Freakshow is designed for more medium conditions or for bowlers with slower speed and more hand. 

The Vandal Smash features Navy/ Purple Composite Flip Solid coverstock, wrapped around the Vandal Asymmetric core. The veneer is finished with 500/4000 Siaair Micro Pads.

The Deviant pearl is Black/Silver Composite Pearl coverstock encasing the  Deviant Medium RG Symmetric core. A taller lightbulb shape with more flare, more skid and a cover finished with 500 Siaair pad and smoothed with Royal Compound, that could handle a bit more oil.

DV8 Adds Two Balls at The End of January

DV8 is excited to introduce two new performance balls, Grudge and Diva XOXO.

The new Grudge and Diva XOXO both feature the enhancement of Composite technology that intensifies the performance characteristics of their standard base reactive systems. The result is significantly more hook in the “Hook” base reactive and significantly more flip in the “Flip” base reactive.  

The black/purple/white Grudge utilizes new Composite Hook solid coverstock matched with a brand new asymmetric core design to provide what DV8 describes as “Hook-in-a-Box” ball motion. The Grudge is an incredible ball for heavy oil lane conditions, and it is going to turn some heads.

The purple/silver Diva XOXO combines our new Composite Flip pearl coverstock with the proven Diva core to provide length, flip, and lots of strikes. The combination of great looks and impressive performance makes the Diva XOXO a real sweetheart of a bowling ball.  

The Grudge and Diva XOXO will start shipping worldwide on January 26, 2016.

DV8 Unveils Two New Balls for October

New DV8 High performance ball - the THUG™ LIFE. The composite pearl coverstock is Blue / Silver / Neon Green, finished with 500 grit Siaair pad, and Royal Compound, wrapping the Thug low RG Asymmetric core.

DV8 also introduces the DEVIANT™. Devised for medium to oily lane conditions, the new Black / Dark Red Deviant is the V composite solid cover finished to 500 grit (Siaair) and Royal Compound is the last stage.  The “engine” of the new Deviant is the Deviant Medium RG Symmetric core. 

The two new balls Worldwide release is October 27^th.

Demoing The New Brunswick, DV8 and Radical Bowling Technologies

Brunswick seminar Monday October 13th. I rolled the DV8 Thug, Hooligan and Outcast, Radical Guru (wow) and Score, Brunswick Mastermind Intellect (wow), and Brute.

Lane conditions were standard bumper bowling house shot, but if you get in enough there was some oil (of course). Started by rolling a Roto Grip Defiant, my strongest personal ball, drilled mild. When I lined up very deep on the fresh pattern with the Defiant, I was impressed with the Guru and Intellect and their ability to handle the oil volume. The ball layouts are kind of neutral for the demo (typically the Pin is above the finger holes and Center of Gravity in or near the middle of grip, but they are lots stronger than my normal layouts.

I started with the Radical Technologies Guru and then Brunswick Mastermind Intellect, the two strongest balls I planned to demo. Both stood up to their hype. Big hooking balls remove oil from the lane quickly, so I didn’t want to wait to try them.

The Guru was easily as much ball as the Defiant and some more, and the demo layout actually helped get the ball down the lane for me, with more kick downlane. The Intellect is strong with a solid cover and compound finished veneer, unlike the original Mastermind with a 1500 dull finish. The Masterminds (original, Genius, and now Intellect) hook. I was very pleased with my reaction given the surface was finished smoother, as is my Defiant, but compound surface (smoother/shinier) handled the oil very well.

Next I was curious about the new DV8 Thug and Hooligan, then Outcast. On the house condition, with plenty of friction outside of second arrow, the DV8’s played well. Thanks to Legend Carmen Salvino for looking in and suggesting a couple things.

The stronger Thug core needed more room and looked like more speed than I could muster up the ditch but it got down the lane an reacted as expected. The Hooligan, and for me, the (Black/Green) Outcast played particularly well. I was very pleased at what I saw and I encourage players to come check them out.

The next products sampled were the Radical Score and Brunswick Brute. Radical is doing a “buy your loyalty” program to appeal to better bowlers offering a Prize fund for bowlers and shops. If a bowler shoots 300, they can get all or part of a Bounty set aside for the ball’s users. A Bowler wins but the pro shop who sold the ball gets an equal bonus. If this sounds familiar it’s from the former 900 Global President Phil Cardinale, now president at Radical Technologies, who did the same promotion with the 900 Global Bounty, a few years ago.  The Score rolled well, as I expected. You don’t throw money at a product promotion unless you know you have something special. The shiny Brute on the other hand joined the DV8 balls as unexpectedly easy to get down the lane with nice pop at the pins. Again, the layout is not what I usually use but it worked well (who would have guessed) for most of the bowlers, on the shot put out at Brunswick Zone, Woodridge.

New Balls From DV8

From DV8 look for the new HP Thug. The Black /Orange /Silver Pearl coverstock is Class 13F Reactive finished with 500 Siaair Micro Pad and Royal Compound. The core is the Thug Low RG. The new Thug and the other DV8 offerings will be available October 29^th.

DV8’s new HOOLIGAN is reactive Red Pearl/Yellow Pearl Class 3F Reactive veneer finished 500 Siaair Micro Pad, Royal Compound, and Royal Shine wrapping the Hooligan core. Design intent from DV8 is to compete with the mid performance ball category, and after demoing the ball, this offering is a solid performer on the “Typical House Shot” lane condition.

 

DV8 OUTCAST BLACK CITRON expands the entry level category for DV8. Expanding on the Misfit line, the Black Citron, Mango Tango, and Melon Baller feature Class 1 Reactive coverstock and the Outcast core. The new entries are all finished very smooth with 500 Siaair Micro Pad, Royal Compound, and Royal Shine.

DV8 To Introduce Three New Balls

RUCKUS™ Feud The red/black/yellow Ruckus Feud features the new Class 12 solid reactive coverstock formulation matched with the medium RG, asymmetric Ruckus core.  This combination provides more traction in oil with outstanding backend to produce the most total hook of any DV8 ball to date on heavy oil lane conditions. 

 

Misfit™ Red/Orange The neon red/orange Misfit uses the high RG Misfit core and our new Class 1C solid reactive coverstock to provide more length and a more controlled backend reaction than previous Misfits.

The silver/pink DV8 DIVA™ Pearl  features Class 5F coverstock matched with the medium RG, symmetric Diva core to provide easy length, strong flip motion, and plenty of attitude for the pins.  The Diva Pearl offers outstanding shelf appeal and is best suited for medium oil lane conditions.

 DV8 RUCKUS™ The black/blue/lime Ruckus features the new Class 8F Hybrid coverstock formulation matched with the new medium RG, asymmetric Ruckus core. This combination provides “plenty of hook with extremely aggressive backend reaction on medium to heavy oil lane conditions” suggests DV8. This stronger backend reaction allows bowlers to play deeper inside angles while maintaining outstanding entry angle and superior pin action.

DV8 DUDE™ The black/purple Dude features the new Class 4F Solid coverstock matched with the new high RG, symmetric Dude core to provide outstanding versatility for a variety of bowling styles. DV8 reports: “The Dude floats easily down the lane and provides plenty of flip at the breakpoint to attack the pins on medium to light oil lane conditions.” Look for a similar reaction to the Diva, as the Dude contains the same core, with less pink in the cover!

Three New Balls From DV8 in January

The blue/orange/lime hybrid Brutal Nightmare expands the range of ball motion in the DV8 Nightmare series with an aggressive skid/snap reaction. The combination of the Low RG Nightmare core with the new Class 8 Hybrid Reactive coverstock provides a ball motion that skids easily through the front and mid-lane with an extremely quick response to friction on the backend. The hybrid cover finished at 500 grit with Siaair Micro Pads gets a Rough Buff compound finish. The Brutal Nightmare is designed for medium to heavy oil lane conditions.

While the new DV8 Diva will be attractive to the ladies, like the 900 Global Jewel last year,  bowlers should appreciate the performance that the ball was designed to offer to a variety of bowling styles. The black/pink solid Diva offers outstanding shelf appeal and plenty of attitude on the lanes as a result of the new performance core matched with DV8’s new Class 6G Reactive coverstock. This combination makes the Diva a serious performance bowling ball for men and women on a wide range of lane conditions.

The new neon yellow DV8 Misfit Pearl adds a new color option and expands the range of performance in the Misfit product line. The Misfit Pearl features a higher RG and lower differential version of the Misfit core combined with a pearlized Class 1L Reactive coverstock finished to 500 grit with Siaair Micro Pad then treated with Rough Buff compound then High Gloss Polish to  provides more length with plenty of backend making it the “go-to ball” on light oil lane conditions. GEICO PBA Summer Shootout on ESPN

Reigning U.S. Open champ Pete Weber of St. Ann, MO, put 12 points on the board in Round 4 of the GEICO PBA Summer Shootout at 10pin bowling lounge, helping his Storm team take the early lead in the annual Manufacturers Cup competition.

The first four rounds of one ball, low-man-out singles elimination matches aired Sunday on ESPN2. In each round, nine players representing nine different bowling ball brands competed in three groups of three players each. The survivor of the low-man-out preliminary matches advance to a final match where the winner earned 12 points, runner-up 8 points and third-place finisher 7 points. Those eliminated in the preliminary matches earned lesser points.

Weber, behind a flawless seven-strike performance (three in his preliminary match and four in a row in a Round 4 showdown with Roto Grip’s Brian Kretzer of Dayton, Ohio), helped Storm take a three-point lead over Ebonite and DV8 in the bowling ball manufacturers’ contest. Brunswick’s Chris Loschetter finished third in Round 4 after an eight-count on his first shot in the three-player final match.

In the first round, Ryan Ciminelli of Cheektowaga, NY, threw four strikes in a row – two in his preliminary match and two more in the final showdown to eliminate Storm’s Osku Palermaa of Finland and DV8’s Ronnie Russell of Camby, IN, staking Brunswick to an early lead in the team competition. Russell struck on his first shot in the final match, but had a nine-count on his second shot. Palermaa finished third after an eight-count on his first attempt.

Round 2 went to Columbia 300’s Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, who struck on his first three shots to edge DV8’s Mike Machuga of Erie, PA (double and nine-count). Ebonite’s Tommy Jones of Simpsonville, SC, was third after a nine-count on his first shot in the final match.

Newly-inducted PBA Hall of Famer Jason Couch, who announced his retirement from PBA Tour competition at the start of the Summer Shootout, temporarily put Ebonite into the team lead when he claimed 12 points in Round 3, ousting 900 Global’s Robert Smith of Las Vegas, who left three pins standing on his second shot. Hammer’s Bill O’Neill of Southampton, PA, was knocked out with a seven-count on his first ball.

Five more rounds of singles and doubles low-man-out elimination rounds will determine the team seeding positions for an elimination position round contest leading into the Baker doubles format stepladder finals. All remaining rounds of the GEICO PBA Summer Shootout will air on ESPN on Saturday, July 14, at noon ET and Sunday, July 15, at 1 p.m. ET.
