Anthony LaCaze of Glen Ellyn, Ill., made PBA history today at the Lake County Indiana Golden Anniversary Championships at Olympia Lanes in Hammond, Ind., as he became the first amateur to reach a PBA telecast since the tour switched to an all-exempt field for the 2004-2005 season. LaCaze, who was the No. 21 seed going into Friday’s Round of 8, defeated No. 29 seed Brad Angelo, last week’s champion at the Pepsi Viper Championship in Omaha, Neb., 4-2 to advance to the semifinals on Sunday.
The Lake County Indiana Golden Anniversary Championship is taking place from Nov. 4-9 at Olympia Lanes in Hammond, Ind. Saturday is a day for the fans, with PBA Pro-Ams and Fan Day taking place at Olympia Lanes. The championship round takes place Sunday, live on ESPN at 1 p.m. EST.

Lake County Indiana Golden Anniversary Championship
Two bowlers who have had a lot of success in Indiana found more luck in Lake County Thursday as Todd Book finished atop the field of exempt bowlers and Mark Williams finished in first place in the senior division at the Lake County Indiana Golden Anniversary Championship at Olympia Lanes in Hammond, Ind. Book finished the day at +510, averaging 237.46 over two seven-game blocks. Williams wrapped up with +188, averaging 213.92 over two seven-game blocks.

Lake County Indiana Golden Anniversary Championship
George Lambert IV of Wichita, Kan., finished atop the field of 99 bowlers to advance to Thursday’s Round of 64 at the Lake County Indiana Golden Anniversary Championship at Olympia Lanes in Hammond, Ind. Lambert finished the round with a total pinfall of 1592, averaging 227.43 for the seven-game block. He finished 29 pins ahead of second-place qualifier Lee Vanderhoef of Greenville, S.C.

PBA Tour
It was a day of firsts as Brad Angelo and Stefanie Nation each captured their first career ProfessionalBowlers Association (PBA) title at the Pepsi Viper Championship at Thunder Alley in
Angelo, a seven-year veteran of the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour, defeated No. 1 seed ChrisLoschetter of Avon, Ohio, 256-215 in the championship match. With both bowlers vying for their first title, the game was tied at 107 in the fifth frame and Angelo proceeded to strike in the sixth through 11th frames to run away with the victory. Prior to today, Angelo had appeared in 13 PBA televised finals without garnering a title.
“This is what everybody on the Tour always dreams of, it’s what we all do it for,” Angelo said. “I’ve been knocking on the door for several years, and it finally happened for me.”
Angelo, of Lockport, N.Y., who entered Sunday’s live televised finals as the No. 3 seed, defeated No. 4 seed Wes Malott of Argyle, Texas, 222-195, and No. 2 seed Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Ocala, Fla., 221-214, in order to advance through the stepladder format. Williams Jr., who is the all-time PBA titles leader with 44, became the first to surpass the $4 million mark with his third-place finish.
