Ron Mohr, the winner of the first two Professional Bowlers Association (PBA)Senior Tour titles of the 2009 season, moved into the second-round qualifying lead Monday in the PBA Senior Lake County Indiana Open at Olympia Lanes in Hammond, IN.
Mohr, of Eagle River, Alaska, led with a 3,700 16-game pinfall (231.2 average)
after bowling 1,901 in Monday’s eight-game block. He had games of 246, 256, 256, 198, 212, 232, 257 and 244. Kerry Painter of Henderson, NV, who rolled a 300 game in his second block, is in second with 3,689 bumping first round leader Wayne Webb into third.
“I’ve been bowling well this year but I can’t take anything for granted,” Mohr
said. “We have a lot of tough tournaments coming up and I have to keep working hard on the tougher (lane condition) patterns.
The field has been cut to the top 32 players who will advance to best-of-five
match play beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m. Match play continues all day on Tuesday
with the Round of 8 and championship rounds scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
