PBA Survivor Challenge

Richie Brown of of Marion, OH defeated Jeff Roche of Dearborn, MI, 212-203, to win the PBA Survivor Challenge Friday at Thunderbowl Lanes, the first of nine side events being conducted as part of the PBA World Series of Bowling and webcast on’s Xtra Frame.

“I was looking forward to bowling in these (WSOB) tournaments but I wanted to see how I was going to do in this sweeper first so it looks like I’m going to be entering a few more,” said the 45-year-old Brown who earned $3,000 for the win.

“This is actually the first time I’ve bowled in an eliminator-style format so
obviously I’m very happy with the results.”
Roche survived a seven frame roll-off in a match against Johnny Petraglia Jr. to
advance to the final match against Brown.

All of the final rounds of World Series of Bowling side events will be telecast
on Xtra Frame.

Additional side events being conducted during the run of WSOB are: Earl Anthony Pattern Sweeper, Aug. 12; All-In Action Sweeper, Aug. 14; Tournament of Champions Pattern Sweeper, Aug. 16; U.S. Open Pattern Sweeper, Aug. 19; Dick Weber Pattern Sweeper, Aug. 20; PBA Elimination Shootout, Aug. 21; PBA Shark Pattern Sweeper, Aug. 25 and PBA Super Showdown, Aug. 26.
